Lobby Day Quick Tips

Take the metro.

To get from the Omni Shoreham Hotel to the nearest metro station, walk from the hotel to Calvert Street, NW, and turn right; in less than one block, turn left on Connecticut Avenue, NW; the Woodley Park metro stop is on Connecticut Avenue and 24th Street, NW. Board the red line towards Glenmont and exit at Union Station (six stops). Give yourself 30 minutes from door to door.

The metro is $2.40 each way during rush hour/$2.10 non-rush. A taxi will cost approximately $20.00.  Let us know if you would like FRAC or Feeding America staff to accompany you on a particular visit.

When walking among the House buildings and the Senate buildings go to the basement and walk through the tunnels. That avoids going through security for each building.

Note: You cannot travel to the Capitol underground without a Member /Aide with you.

Store your baggage at the hotel or at Union Station.

Union Station Baggage Storage is available near Gate A, Amtrak concourse (hours are 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM).  Go to Tiburon Lockers for rates and other information.

“The National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference has been a great opportunity to deepen my knowledge in current food policy issues and best practices in communications strategy for anti-hunger policy. Each year our organization benefits from the excellent resources provided to enrich our work with lawmakers and constituents in advocating for a society that places elimination of hunger at the very top of the list. The skills we have learned have helped us form solid communications plans revolving around supplemental nutrition programs and build relationships with lawmakers and constituents alike. I highly recommend program and communications directors as well as staff attend the National Anti-Hunger Policy Conference. Together we can eliminate hunger in the United States.”
Benjamin Russell, Communications Director, Public Policy Center of Mississippi
